CAREER SUMMARY & EXPERIENCE
John joined Lynx Real Estate in 2007 to found the Technology division and assist with the ongoing growth of Lynx’s Healthcare Real Estate Advisors group. John migrated to Grubb & Ellis with Lynx’s HREA team in January of 2011, where he serves in a dual role: Healthcare Real Estate Advisor with G&E’s national Healthcare Team and Technology specialist within metro Atlanta.

Since 2007, John has assisted healthcare providers, technology providers, developers, and investors as they have sought to develop and execute real estate strategies. His transaction experience includes tenant, landlord, buyer and seller representation for properties ranging from a few thousand square feet of medical space to over 40,000 of office space, with over $20,000,000 in transaction volume achieved since 2007.

As a former engineer, John applies a thorough, systematic approach to all client matters. Be it a marketing strategy, lease restructuring versus relocation decision, a buy-versus-lease analysis, a Net Present Value comparison, or a disposition strategy, John’s clients benefit from fact-based analysis accompanied by sound reasoning and data.

Prior to his association with Lynx and Grubb & Ellis, John served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a privately-held technology sales and installation company, where he was responsible for marketing activities, sales team development and production, and served on the corporate steering committee. Prior to that, he was with BellSouth for over 10 years, where he served in BellSouth Mobility’s Operations Engineering group for five years, followed by five years in BellSouth’s Large Business Sales division. In the BellSouth sales organization, John rapidly progressed from sales support to National Account Manager, where he spent his final three years serving as National Account Manager for all divisions of Time Warner. Prior to BellSouth, John was a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with Schlumberger’s Electricity Management division.

John is an Atlanta native. He grew up in Sandy Springs and graduated from Georgia Tech in 1991 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree (with Honors) and a minor in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Married since 1991, he resides in Lilburn with his wife, son, daughter, and two dogs. The Cobbs are active members of a growing church and are otherwise engaged in youth leadership, camping, photography, and various fitness activities.
